Sweet Tooth Stronghold, and where it's been.
Sweet Tooth Stronghold, well it’s basically my own personal take on Big Gnome Studios’ Sugary Spire game. Full of tons of lore, mostly poor rewrites of pre-existing characters (mostly from the old Construct Era lore), all done by one person.
I was the only composer, sprite artist, coder, level designer, writer, EVERYTHING. It was the definition of overambition. I tried to scale it back to each world being a new update, and then I tried to simplify things more, and I ended up just losing a lot of hope and inspiration as a result.
Even if I ended up giving out a form of a complete product, it wouldn’t have been up to my expectations. And it definitely wouldn’t have been up to all of yours.
I’m going to have to put the current version of the game on the shelf. I wanted to stray from the formula of the game being a “Pizza Tower clone”. I want to redo a majority of the game’s code and mechanics, but that is such a big task for myself at the moment and I don’t have any motivation to work on this for the foreseeable future.
I’ve made a promise to myself that “if any of my projects get cancelled, I will give out the direct source code if possible.” Since I always hated when certain projects get cancelled with no follow-up and just die with no consolation prize of sorts.
So I’m giving out the source code and FMOD Studio project for anyone to either continue the project for themselves or for people who want to turn whatever this poorly coded mess into a game of their own.
STSH’s Shelf (As of typing, the FMOD Studio project may not be fully uploaded yet.)
